Installation of Curt Brake Controller Adapter
To install your Curt electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. When this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.
This adapter plugs into the port that is built into the electric junction box beneath your vehicle's dash. The black box is located to the left of the steering column, just above the carpet. To plug in the adapter, first remove the cover on the box. The adapter plugs into the second slot from the left, on the top row.
No hardwiring is required to install this adapter. After you plug it into the factory port, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.

Easy install with factory 7way plug didn't need any extra not included in kit. 02 Chevrolet 2500HD and pull an aluminum 3 horse gooseneck trailer, this brake system works great so far loaded and unloaded. Mounted nicely out of way to the dash under shifter.

I bought the brake controller and wore harness it came fast and was super easy to install and used it the next day to tow my at and trailer and it worked perfect I would deffinitly recommend this brake controller to anyone it's a great but for the low price

I purchased a Curt brake controller from the Chevy dealership and when it arrived it was a controller and a hand full of wires to splice into my system. I got a hold of etrailers and the staff was pleasant and sold me what I actually wanted from the dealership. Now I know to call these guys for all my trailer wiring needs.

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche
This made installing my Trailer Brake Controller a breeze. I had a harness already that came with my truck, but would have to get the connector and pins to put on it to mate it up to the controller. I got kit witch should of had a square end but they sent a flat hook-up wouldn't fit so I had to re-order right one$2.89 shipping ,plus had to wait to hook -up would buy from again but would talk to some body before I order great fit work when plugged in

- Curt Brake Controller Not Working Correctly After Moving It From 2006 Silverado to 2001 ModelIf you are using the same wiring adapter in the 2001 as you had in the 2006 Silverado, it would explain the problem you're having.
