Ground Clearance Change by Installing Curt 2-Inch Class III Hitch # C13135 on 2014 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
Id like to add this hitch to my 2014 crosstrek, primarily for using my Yakima Holdup 2 bike rack 2inch version. Can you tell me if adding this rack reduces the cars ground clearance, and if so, by how much?

The Curt 2-Inch Class III trailer hitch that you referenced, part # C13135, is a great choice for your 2014 Subaru Crosstrek to allow use of your Yakima Holdup 2 Bike platform carrier # Y02443.
At right you will find a link to an installation video for the hitch that provides useful dimension information including the height above ground for the top of the receiver tube once installed - about 14 inches in the case of the 2014 Crosstrek. I also linked two helpful articles for hitch installation.
Your HoldUp2 bike rack has an angled shank that bends upward to provide 4-inches of additional clearance. This keeps the rack higher up off the ground. Despite this height gain in some circumstances, such as when entering a very steep driveway or when driving on rough uneven roads for instance, you may find that the bottom of the rack could make contact.
The amount of passenger and cargo weight in your car, your tire tread wear and inflation, and the weights of your bikes will also have an effect on actual clearance so I cannot provide an exact figure.
