Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Behind Motor Home with Sterling Tow Bar
Question:
2001 jeep wrangler double tube bumper - have 1424 base plate what will I need to use sterling tow bar

Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster XL base plates # 1424-1 for your 2001 Jeep Wrangler are compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars, including the Sterling tow bar, # RM-576. No other parts are needed to make the tow bar work with the base plates.
The Sterling tow bar comes with safety cables so you will not need to add any. For lighting you can use bulb and socket kit # RM-155. This kit bypasses the vehicle wiring.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the Jeep brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult your Jeep owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
