How to Determine How RV Bumper is Welded  

Question:

I would like to add one of your bike carriers on the back of my RV 2014 coachman freedom express 230 bh it has a steel bumper 4, but how do I tell how the bumper is welded ? and how would the extra weight effect the trailer ? two bikes would be carried Thanks

Most RV bumpers have a plastic plug on each end, so the interior of the bumper can be used for storage. You should be able to remove the plug and look inside the bumper to see how the seam is welded, one continuous weld or a series of spot welds. A continuously welded bumper is stronger, and would be suitable for a bike rack like the Swagman # S80501.

As long as the bumper is steel and continuously welded, the weight of the rack and that of the bikes carried on it should not have any ill effect. I've linked you to a product demonstration video.
