Replacement 205/75R15 Trailer Tires For a Tandem Axle Trailer With 3,500LB Axles

Question:

I currently have tires on my camper that are rated 113/108. The tire size is 205/75R15. All I can find in that size tire are D rated unless I use a 225 tire.My camper’s GVWR is 6695 and 3500 GAWR per axle. Are D rated tires ok ?

The Load Range D # AM10245 205/75R15 is going to be more capacity than you need for your camper using 3,500lb tandem axles. Each tire is rated to support up to 2,150lbs which would be 4,300lbs for the axle. A better option would be to use a Load Range C # AM10244 which is rated for 1,820lbs per tire. This would be 3,640lbs per axle which is much closer to the maximum capacity of each axle. With that your tires will flex more than bounce like you get with the higher capacity tire.
