Recommended Sway Control System For An Aluminum Frame Trailer

Question:

Still seeking a suitable friction sway control solution for my 2024 Intech O-V-R Expedition travel trailer that does not require drilling into Intechs all-aluminum frame or undercarriage during installation. Tow vehicle is a 2017 Range Rover HSE Td6 using Andersens 3298 rack and 2-5/16inch combo ball drawbar assembly used to provide the 8inch rise needed to meet the Intech coupler. Friction sway control is desired due to Land Rovers OEM caution not to use a WDH. I do not want to penetrate any of the 2x6inch aluminum structure of the trailer frame. Even the Tucson Electronic Sway Controller required drilling a crossmember to mount the unit to the trailer 5foot - 10foot aft of the coupler. Any solution ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Since you can't use a weight distribution hitch and don't want to drill through the aluminum frame I recommend attaching the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV to a board and using some U-bolts to clamp the board to the frame. Once mounted you'll just need to plug your trailer's 7-way cable into it and use the True Course 7-way cable to plug into your Range Rover.

You will not be able to use any sort of friction sway control without drilling into the frame to mount a bracket for the sway bar to connect to.
