Recommended Kayak Carrier for a 13.5' Kayak Being Carried On A Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hey there, I’ve got a Toyota highlander and I’m wanting to carry a 13.5 foot two person kayak along. I’ve got factory crossbars. Will the kayak be too long to carry on top using standard j shape cradles? I figure it’s all I’ll fit in width but is it too long to carry on top? Thanks :

Expert Reply:
No your kayak will not be too long. To carry it I recommend using the Rhino-Rack Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style # S510.
This carrier has a 99-lbs weight capacity, will fit on any crossbars, and only takes up a bit of space on your roof rack so you could carry more gear if you wanted too.
