5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Install Kit for a 2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty and 19k 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
Can you help me select a hitch and installation kit. My fifth wheel weighs 19000 and a hitch weight of about 4600.

Expert Reply:
Given the weight of your 5th wheel trailer at 19k I recommend going with a hitch rated for 27k, # RP46FR. This hitch has a secure 1 piece jaw design and 4-way pivoting head. A 20k hitch like # RP30928 has the potential of being overloaded so going higher is a safer option.
For an installation kit there are 2 custom options available. First we have kit # RP56005-53. This kit has longer rails and brackets that mount to the outsides of the truck frame rails for a faster, easier installation.
And second we have # RP50082-58. The rails in this kit are a little shorter which makes installation take a little longer.
