Can The Base Of A B&W Companion Hitch For Ford OEM Be Replaced With A Chevy OEM Base
Question:
I currently have a BandW Companion for a Ford Puck. I am now considering the purchase of a new 2023 Silverado 3500 with 6.75foot bed including factory 5th wheel puck. know I would likely have to use the slider for the factory puck system because of the regular bed. My question has to do with the hitch head. Can I purchase the slider base ONLY, and transfer my hitch head from my current hitch to the new slider base?

Yes, you can definitely replace just the base of your B&W Companion hitch with a slider designed to fit your new 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500's puck system. You'll need the Replacement Slider Base # BWRVB3775 and can simply pull the two pins that connect the hitch head # BWRVC3006 to the pivot arms and swap it over to the new base.
Removing the head during installation/removal from your truck will also help lighten the load. The slider base is around 181lbs so you'll definitely want to have an extra set of hands when moving it around.
