Do the Wheel Trays on Yakima HighRoller and FrontLoader Bike Racks Slide Around without Bikes Loaded

Question:

I have read that the Front loader tray extends back and on a hatchback auto can create an issue. Does the front loader or High roller allow for tray adjusting or are they in a fixed position. Also, how is the hardware better on the Highroller in comparison to the Frontloader?

On both the HighRoller and FrontLoader, # Y02103, there are wheel trays that can move back and forth on the rack. I have not heard of any issues with this operation. The trays cannot come off the rack because the end caps block them from coming of. And with bikes loaded they definitely would not move at all. The main body of each rack is fixed and the trays move on top of them.

Mounting the HighRoller requires more time and effort compared to the FrontLoader. The HIghRoller uses carriage bolts and knobs on the bottom of the rack to secure to the crossbars. The FrontLoader has a knob at the top of the rear support so its easier to use. The front has a clamp style attachment and a knob at the front of the rack you turn to tighten it. So the placement of the knobs on the FrontLoader are easier to access. I have linked a video review of the FrontLoader for you.
