Recommended Replacement For An Atwood GCH10A-4E RV Hot Water Heater

Question:

I have a 2014 Itasca Sunova 34 with an ATWOOD GCH10A-4E hot water heater. I full-time in my RV and it appears that the hw tank has sprung a leak. I know ATWOOD has been bought out by Dometic, so can you give me recommendations for a replacement hot water heater? Thanks

The dimensions of the Atwood GCH10A-4E are 15.5" x 16" x 19.2" so I recommend the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater - 18" x 18" Door # FR68SR to ensure that the door completely covers the cutout hole and any scuffs from the old flange. This unit is 12-5/8" L x 12-13/16" W x 19-3/16" D so you'll need to make some slight alterations to your cutout hole to fill in the gap but the performance output of this unit will be worth the work.

You'll want to use some butyl tape # AL28FJ around the flange of the water heater and the door to prevent any water leaks through the mounting screws.

I also recommend picking up a water pressure regulator # CAM40064 if you don't already have one to ensure that you're getting the correct water pressure for operation of the water heater.
