The P-11 on your Dexter axle indicates the plant number it was manufactured at. If you can find a serial number on your axle tag that could be used to identify the axle through Dexter. If not then there are other ways to find a replacement axle.
If you have the capacity of the axle listed on the axle tag that is a good place to start. If not, you could use the diameter of your axle to determine the capacity. See the list below.
Once you have the capacity you will also need to know the hub face to hub face measurement. It is important to choose an axle that is the same length as your current axle. These two pieces of information will allow you to choose a replacement if one is available.
For example, if you have a 3,500 lb axle that is 95" long you would be able to use the # e68GR you were looking at. The spring center measurement typically doesn't match up when buying a replacement axle but that is not a problem. All you need to do is cut off the spring seats and weld on # TRSS238 to match your 70" spring center measurement.
I have attached a diagram showing where to measure for the length of your axle along with a link to all of our available axles for your reference.
Typical Axle Diameters Based on Axle Capacity
- 1,000-lb - 2,000-lb Axles: 1-1/2 inch - 1-3/4 inch diameter
- 3,500-lb Axles: 2-3/8 inch diameter
- 6,000-lb - 7,200-lb Axles: 3 inch diameter
- 8,000-lb Axles: 3-1/2 inch diameter
- 9,000-lb Axles: 4 inch diameter
- 10,000-lb Or more axles: 5 inch diameter
