Replacement Brake Kit for Hydraulic Surge Brakes on Trailer with 7 inch Brake Assemblies
Question:
I have dexter hydraulic surge brakes on my trailer 7inch X 1 3/4 Item # 23-398-399 I am thinking about converting them to electric. Is the electric 7inch x 1 1/4 kit Item # 23-47-48 compatible with my existing hubs and drums? The electric brake kit appears to have an offset flange, but I dont know how much to determine if it will be engaged properly with the drum. My Hubs/Drums are Model# 56130 Dexter hubs available at Northern tool. I believe this Is this the same as Item # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K. Specs appear to be the same with the exception of the seal ID. I have 1.5inch seal ID on my axels. Thanks

Expert Reply:
Yes, the electric drum brake kit part # 23-47-48 is correct for your current hub/drums and would be all you'd need to convert to electric brakes on the trailer. The mounting bracket of this would match up to what you have now and the offset would match as well.
