Largest Trailer Tire For 13 Inch Rim For Highway Use

Question:

Hello, I have 13 inch trailer rims with a 4 on 4 lug pattern. How big of a tire can I go with these that is freeway rated? Do you guys have any black rims with freeway rated tires? I don’t have any fenders yet so clearance for height shouldn’t be a problem. Thank you

So the largest trailer tire that fits a 13 inch rim is a ST185/80R13 tire, which measures 24.7" diameter and 7.2" wide when inflated. For highway/freeway use you'll need a radial tire, because these have inner cords that run horizontally (as opposed to bias trailer tires with diagonal cords), which results in the radial tire flexing more and running cooler while the bias tire is much stiffer. As for the tire itself, what you'll is the following:

- Kenda Karrier ST185/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10208

The # AM10208 is a radial tire and has an 81 mph speed rating, so it is perfect for use on the freeway like you are wanting.

As for the rims, the closest option for a 13 inch rim with a 4 on 4" bolt pattern that is black is one with a black interior, the Aluminum HWT Series S5 Trailer Wheel # AM22322HWTB.
