Can 185/80-13 Trailer Tires Replace 175/80-13 Tires on Camper

Question:

So I own a 2001 StarCraft 21sso that I purchased all 4 brand new tires radials size 175/80/13r. I have since found a great deal on a 2008 jayco 23b hybrid thats running 185/80/13d tires. so Im curious if I could swap these two tires around and put the newer ones on the camper Ill be using all the time? I know I could probably put smaller tires on the bigger camper but can the bigger tires go on the smaller camper?

With trailer tires, the rule of thumb is that you want to have at least 3 inches of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1 inch of clearance from the inside of the tire to the frame rail.

So with that in mind you can switch to a larger tire if you still have that much clearance. Your current ST175/80R13 trailer tire, such as the Provider # TTWTRTM1758013C measures 24 inches in diameter when fully inflated and is 7 inches wide. A ST185/80R13 trailer tire, such as the Kenda Karrier # AM10208 I recommend, is 24.7 inches in diameter when fully inflated and 7.2 inches wide.

Essentially these two tires are so similar in size that unless you were already really pushing the limits of the clearance, either tire could go on either trailer you mentioned.

I've added links to video reviews of both tires for you to check out.
