All Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid

Question:

Hi, I have a 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD. I need to set this vehicle up to be flat towed behind a motorhome, and also attach a trailer hitch at the back. I plan to make all the additions at the same time so I am looking for 1.Compatible tow bars. 2.Base plate. 3. Wiring kit for connecting to motor home 7pin. 4. Stay-in-play braking system 5. Trailer hitch 6. Trailer hitch wiring kit Anything else I might need? I am handy, but have never done this kind of work before so it is important to have detailed how-to install videos. Please let me know my options and if you need any additional information about my vehicles. Thank you

We can get your 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid set up with everything you need for flat towing, and it's definitely a smart idea to get everything at once. I verified these fits with the manufacturer, and to make it easy, I'll go ahead and list out all the parts you need for your '22 Escape Hybrid:

- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM39FR

- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522

- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653

- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7

- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400

- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are really nice because they have removable tabs to help your Escape keep its factory appearance when you aren't flat towing. For the Falcon tow bar, this is the best option for your Escape because of its exceptionally long arms which make it easier for a towed vehicle to track behind your motorhome, and its latching system that allows you to disconnect from your base plates even if you aren't on perfectly level ground.

I really like the Flexo-Coil wiring kit because it is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback, keeping your Escape's electrical system safe. The charge line kit is needed to keep your Escape's battery charged, and the brake-lite relay is needed to prevent your Escape's brake signal from overriding your motorhome's turn signal when braking during a turn.

As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is by far the best option because it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome for smoother, more controlled towing. The only other thing I recommend considering, in order to protect your '22 Escape from debris while it is being towed, is the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750.

Then for the trailer hitch receiver and wiring, the correct fit for both for your '22 Escape Hybrid are the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e89YR and T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TE54FR.
