What Class S Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2021 Ford F-150 with 275/60-20 Tires?
Question:
I can always count on y’all to explain stuff like that when needed rather than just giving a short stock reply. Anyway, my 2021 F150 has 275/60-20 tires. From what I can see that, is going to limit my options a fair bit. I am looking for Class S chains. The THULE self tensioning (KON24FR) won’t be an option since the owner’s manual also says that self tensioning or automatic chains should not be used. The TC3029 and PW3029C are just steel cables with rollers. I assume these won’t provide a lot more traction in deeper snow or ice than my BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2 tires already provide? So it looks like the only option I have is the KON44FR?

As with all tire chains, it is always good to go with the recommendations outlined in the owner's manual when it comes to your size 275/60-20 tires on your 2021 Ford F-150. With that being said, the # TC3029 and # PW3029C will provide a little bit of traction to your BF Goodrich tires. If your owner's manual recommends against self-tensioners like the ones on the # KON24FR, it is better to find an alterative with no self-tensioner.
At the end of the day, the Konig Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XD16 Pro # KON44FR is a great option, but these chains do come with tensioners as well. However, the tensioner on these particular chains are not as robust as the ones on the # KON24FR and there is a much lesser chance of damage with these particular tensioners. The tensioners are really small and have a rubber backing. The Konig chains do require 16mm of internal wheel well clearance. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows how to measure for this clearance.
Other than the cables, there are no S-Class chains that do not have tensioners that will fit your tire size.
