Recommended Hitch and 4 Bike Rack for 2012 Chevy Traverse
Question:
I have a 2012 chevy traverse. Presently no hitch/bike rack attached to vehicle. How do I know if I can I attach a permanent hitch to the frame? If not, what options if any do I have for 4 bikes?

You can certainly install a hitch onto your 2012 Traverse. I would recommend the etrailer Class 3 receiver hitch, part # e98863. Installing the hitch is a pretty simple and straightforward process, as you can see by viewing the video I have linked you to. There is a door in the fascia under the rear bumper that is removed, and the hitch will bolt up to the underside of the vehicle using existing holes.
We have many different bike racks that would work well for carrying 4 bikes, the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63380 is an excellent mid-priced option that provides anti-sway cradles and an anti-rattle hitch pin. An optional locking hitch pin, part # S64029 is recommended.
To carry women's bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # 64005 is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handlebar gooseneck and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack, so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
