The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e25TR has a maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 3,500lbs and maximum tongue weight (TW) capacity of 350lbs which will actually meet or exceed the GTW and TW capacity of the 2.4L and 2.5L 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Models.
The weight capacity of this hitch does not increase the towing capacity of your Subaru so you will need to refer to your owner's manual and ensure you stay under the total GTW and TW capacity of listed for your specific model. Note: this hitch is not rated for use with weight distribution systems.
If you do not have a 4-pole connector then I recommend installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, either behind the driver's-side trim panel or in the spare tire compartment. You will need to remove some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the provided fuse into the in-line fuse holder.
You can use the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144 to mount the 4-pole connector to your trailer hitch so that it doesn't hang down loose.
For a ball mount kit I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500lbs # 989900. It's a great starter kit with a 1-7/8" hitch ball and 2" hitch ball. The shanks will provide a drop of 2" or 4" and a rise of 1" or 3" to keep your trailer level while towing.
