For a great hitch that will allow you to tow a small trailer, I recommend the Draw-Tite - 2" Hitch # DT73RR. The reason why I recommend this hitch over the other hitches for your 2022 Subaru Outback is because it has the easiest install difficulty of any other hitch we carry for your vehicle. It also takes only about 50 minutes compared to other hitches like the EcoHitch # EH34FR that take up to 2 hours to install. With 4,500 pounds of maximum towing weight, the Draw-Tite will provide you with more than enough capacity to tow a small trailer. As with all hitches, I recommend confirming with your owner's manual to make sure your vehicle can handle that much weight.
As far as the wiring, for a 4-way harness, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. With the T-One, your small trailer will have functioning tail lights, running lights, and turn signal capabilities.
