Parts Needed For Also Flat Towing a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze With Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bars

Question:

I have a 2019 Ford Ranger that I am flat towing With a 2019 Thor Outlaw Class C. I also want to be able to tow a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze at times. The Cruze is a manual transmission and safe to flat tow. What will I need to add to the Cruze and will the parts I already have with the Ranger be compatible with both vehicles. Falcon Tow Bar, Stay n play braking system.

First you will need either the Roadmaster Base Plate # 523170-1 if you have an eco trim on your 2011 Chevrolet Cruze or a Roadmaster Base Plate # 523168-1 for all other trim levels. To connect your Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522 you will need a Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly # 910021-00 as the mounting systems for your Cruze require a crossbar.

For the tail light wiring you will need the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152 and a 6-Wire Trailer Connector # RM-910030-7 to connect to the wiring you already have with your tow bars. A Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 will keep the battery charged since the braking system will pull power from the vehicle battery. Your Cruze will require you to pull 4 fuses each time you are ready to flat tow and reinstall those fuses when you are needing to drive the Cruze. You can rather use 2 of the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switches # RM76512 to make this easier to disconnect the fuses. All you will need to do is flip the 2 switches and you are ready to tow or drive that quickly.

For the braking system you will either need to add another Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 to the Cruze or switch to a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR for both vehicles. The Patriot is portable allowing you to use it with multiple vehicles. Your 2019 Ford Ranger would need to have a 12 Volt Outlet # RM-9332 added since it shuts off power to the outlets in the cab while towing to use the Patriot. Personally I do prefer the Stay-IN-Play over the Demco as it is easier to use and doesn't require setup every time you tow your vehicles. And you don't have to worry about losing it as it is mounted to the vehicle and will always be there.
