Can Reese Sidewinder RP34FR be Used w/ 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 w/ B&W Turnoverball in Bed

We have a number of options for you to pull your 5th wheel trailer with your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 short bed, though there isn't a 5th wheel hitch you can use with the B&W Turnoverball # BWGNRK1016-5W and a Sidewinder. The reason for that is the B&W Companion that fits in the Turnoverball isn't compatible with the Sidewinder, so the only hitch you can add to this is the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # BWRVK3400-5W.

If you did want to use the Sidewinder you still could, but you would need to remove the Turnoverball and install base rails and a compatible 5th wheel hitch, which you could do with the following:

- Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit with Base Rails # RP50066-58

- Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30928

- Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP34FR

This would allow you to use the Sidewinder with a fixed 5th wheel hitch so you wouldn't have to use a sliding hitch in your short bed Sierra 2500. This is the best overall option for a combination of quality and convenience for towing your trailer, though it is also the more expensive one, which is always a big consideration.

I have no doubt you'd be very happy if you simply went with the sliding Companion, as that hitch is considered by many to be the premier hitch in the industry, so you really can't go wrong with either option. The only other thing you will need to tow with your Sierra is a 5th wheel wiring harness if you don't have one, the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 50-97-410.
