Replacement Trailer Tire for a Pop-Up Camper with 145/12R Tires Load Range C
Question:
I recently bought a pop up camper and need to replace the tires which are 145R12C. Should I stay with a C rated tire or go with a D rated tire as a local shop has recommended?

You can go with a different load range tire as long as it has the capacity for the gross trailer weight. Going to a larger size will not allow the trailer to carry any more weight because its capacity is set by the axle.
For a 145/R12 I recommend the radial tire # AM10130. Radial tires track better and run cooler than bias ply tires. This tire is a lad range D rated for 1,220 pounds at 65 psi.
