How To Tow Small Boat Trailer and Carry Bike Rack With Class A Motorhome

Question:

I have a class A motorhome that I am wanting to tow my 11' inflatable boat along with 4 bikes. The boat, motor, and trailer only weigh between 350-400 pounds total. Can I use a dual receiver with the bike rack on the top receiver, as designed, and use the 18inch extender on the bottom receiver that will have my boat hitch on it?

I have a few options for you, but you using a hitch extender like the Tow Ready # HE18 you were looking at with a dual receiver like the Malone 2" Dual Receiver # MPG544 will reduce the capacities of the trailer hitch receiver on your Class A Motorhome so low you will not be able to tow a trailer.

Instead I recommend either adding a front mount trailer hitch receiver to the front of your motorhome to carry the bike rack, or using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs # D210 which will allow you to tow a trailer and carrier a bike rack at the same time without reducing the capacities of your hitch.

Since your trailer is pretty light you shouldn't have any problems, but you will need to make sure you stay under the 750lb tongue weight rating of the ball mount.

You will also need a 1-7/8" hitch ball # 19260 or 2" hitch ball # 63845 to match the coupler on your trailer.

I included a video of the # D210 for you to take a look at.
