Is it better to conver to 7 way blade connectors?

The 7-Way blade style trailer connector is the most common 7-Way in use at this time. It would be beneficial to switch to this style. However, if you already have a 7-Way round connector you can just use an adapter to go to a 7-Way blade style when needed. You can use # HM47425.
If you want to go ahead and switch from the 7-Way round to the blade style I recommend a multi-tow connector, # HM48470, which has a 7-Way blade style, a 5-Way flat, and 4-Way flat. All you will need to do is remove the wires from the 7-Way round and attach them to the back of the new connector. I have included some diagrams that should how each type is wired. Ignore the colors of the wires as there is no standard wire color used for any one function. Instead, you will need to go by function.
If needed, use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to confirm the functions of the wires before attaching to the new 7-Way. Then use the diagram to attach the wires in the correct places. In the diagrams the top picture is the blade style, and the bottom picture is the round style.
