Hauling With A Hitch Extension On A 2014 Chevy Silverado
Question:
will this extender work with a chevy 1500 lt. I just got a golf cart and I will need to haul it in the bed of the truck with the gate down. with the cart in the truck and hooked to the truck I have very little clearance from the gate to the power jack ..My camper weighs 7500 lbs. I do have an e2 eazy hitch weight dist and sway on the trailer. im waiting to order until I know this will work.

The Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender # HR26 will work if you have a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver on your 2014 Chevy Silverado and have a 2 inch ball mount like the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # 325-GH-12005.
If you have a 2 inch hitch receiver, you'll need the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receiver # C45791. Once thing to note with any hitch extender is that it will divide your hitches capacity by 50%. So if you have a hitch that is a lighter class than the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class V # C15323 you will have an issue there.
Luckily we have everything you'll need to solve that issue and I've included some videos for you to watch to help as well.
Another route you could take is getting an extra long ball mount like the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # BH40. This mount is 14-3/4 inches long and will give you a 4 inch rise, a 2-3/4 inch drop and has a Gross trailer weight of 10,000 lbs. If you think that 10 extra inches will give you the clearance you need, this is the more cost effective option and all you will be replacing is your ball mount and not the whole hitch.
There are a bunch of different routes you can take with us, Ideally you only need 10 inches or less to solve your problem. If not, we have other ways to solve it.
