Expert Reply:
Tongue weight is roughly 10% of hitch capacity. The capacity of this Draw-Tite Class I is 2,000 lbs, making the tongue weight 200 lbs. We have a hitch with a higher capacity for your vehicle. The Curt Class II receiver hitch (part 12490) has 3,500-lb capacity, giving it a 350-lb tongue weight.
Since the Scion sits very low to the ground, I would highly recommend a cargo carrier with a rise. You might try the 20x48 Cargo Carrier by Tow Ready, part # 63155, which has a 3 inch rise. This one also has cut-outs that make it easy to install a light kit. We have two that pop right in: light kit 20174 and an LED version, part 98174LED.
