Tire/Wheel to Replace 20.5 x 8.0-10 Tires on Older Coleman Pop-Up Camper

Question:

I just bought a 1987 Coleman tent trailer. The tires have alot of cracks in them. The size on the tires say 20.5 x 8.0-10 Desert One. I am looking at your Kenda 215/60-8 trailer tire with 8inch white wheel load C. Would these fit.

A 215/60-8 tire like # AM3H310 would have a tread width of about 9 inches and an inflated diameter just over 18 inches, while the modern replacement for the 20.5 x 8.0-10 which is 205/65-10 would be about 8-1/2 inches wide x 20.4 inches in diameter.

If you have the necessary clearance between the inside of your existing tires to accommodate the additional width and the enough ground clearance to handle the fact that the 215/60-8 would lower your pop-up by about an inch, the 215/60-8 would work for you.

This being said, when your camper was designed it was with a certain wheel/tire size in mind. For optimal handling and stability while rolling down the road, I'd recommend staying as close as possible to the original tire and wheel size as possible which would be the 205/65-10 like # AM3H390. This is a Load Range C tire with a 1100 lb per tire/;2200 lb per axle capacity that's mounted on a 10 x 6 inch rim with a 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle. Assuming your original wheels have the same bolt pattern, this would be my recommendation.

I've linked you to our trailer wheel and tire help articles, which contain all kinds of cool information about trailer wheels and tires.
