Locating Reverse Light Circuit on 2007 GMC Acadia
Question:
Hello, I just purchased a Tow Ready 4 flat to 5 flat adapter for a reverse light brake connection. I discovered that the reverse light is actually in the rear lift gate and would like to know if you can help guide me as to where to tap into the reverse light wire. Thanks, you have always been very helpful.

Since the reverse lamps are located in the liftgate, you will need to access the wiring harness that feeds the lamps before it reaches the liftgate.
The harness can usually be found behind one of the side panels in the cargo area. Take a look at the hinge area where the liftgate meets the vehicle, you should be able to locate the harness where it enters the liftgate. Look behind the panels on whichever side of the vehicle this entry point is closest to. Once the interior panel is removed, look for a wiring harness that runs upwards behind the C-pillar. Have a helper place the transmission in reverse and use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to probe each wire in the harness until you locate the one that lights the tester. Once the wire is located, you can tap your adapter into it.
