Recommended Roof Rack and Track System for Truck Topper to Carry Canoe on 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax
Question:
Thanks again for the info. Do you sell a single bar roof rack for going between the front doors of the truck by any manufacturer? If I bought a rack system to go on my topper, I wouldn't want to buy an additional pair of roof racks. I would only need one for the front of the truck. Thanks

We can get you the parts needed to install a roof rack on your truck topper so you can haul your canoe. There are advantages to systems in regards to quality and value, and for your application the best fit is from Rhino-Rack, who is known for their quality, which is consistent with other brands, but often not with as high a price tag. What I recommend is:
- Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells - Track Mount # Y02-490B
This will give you 59 inch crossbars on your camper shell, and for a carrier I recommend the Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs # Y04069.
And while you can add a roof rack to your 2012 Toyota Tundra, that would not be the most budget-friendly option, and we can save you some money while getting you the same result with a load extender, the Yakima # Y01149
This extender will extend up to 46-3/4" inches high above your 2" hitch to give you more support for your canoe if you need it.

Thanks for getting back to me. If I were to install a rack across the front at the doors, what product do you recommend? Isn't there a rack that "clamps" to the door frame? I don't want a bed extender because I have a trailer and also want to open the topper/tailgate without something in my way. What about height of roof racks? I'm also interested in low profile. Thanks
