Product was as advertised, however it was missing four bolts that I had to get at a hardware store, but other than that it was fine. Service from etrailer team was outstanding.

by:

I've been using the product for two summers now and it is perfect for what I'm using it for. My canoe is an Old Town Discovery 133, it's very wide and I initially had trouble fitting it in the brackets with how relatively narrow my Rav4 is, but the instructions that came with them mentioned I could just flip them around. That worked perfectly.

I only use the brackets and the tie down straps from the kit to tie the boat to the crossbars, and then use the painter lines I put on the bow and stern of the boat to tie those to the car. That rides on the highway very easily with no shifting. With two people, the load/unload time is around 10 minutes as long as one person knows what they are doing.

This kit had exactly what I was looking for, seems built to last, and if I ever need another kit to help tie a canoe to a car then I know I can trust this product to get the job done safely and reliably.

1 year later and I havent even taken the brackets off of my car. They are still in perfect condition, dont slip, and Ive never had an issue hauling my canoe on the highway. Easiest way to transport a canoe without an actual canoe trailer.

by:

I purchased the product to make it possible to haul a 30+ year-old White fiberglass canoe on the standard roof-rack of a 2013 Subaru Outback. The kit works very well, but some experimentation was involved. Due to the tapering width of the canoe, I use haul kit with the front guides reversed to face the inside of the canoe gunwhales. In the back the guides are used as intended, facing the outside of the gunwhales.

by:

The canoe brackets are well made, sturdy and really cling in place on the round cross bars. We've used them several times and like them a lot. The only problem, apparently due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was that it took over three months to arrive.

by:

works great and don't slip on crossbar.

by:

it is a decent cheap solution to putting a canoe on a factory rack. with some fiddling around i got the brackets onto my 99 explorer crossbars. the canoe goes on easily and you can really make it very secure using all the straps and tie-downs that are included. the bad thing is it is difficult to get canoe down by yourself it has to be lifted up and over the Keelover brackets. two people- no problem

by:

Easy to install with Ikea-like instructions. It held a heavy 15' fiberglass canoe to the top of my 2013 Subaru perfectly for more than 1000 miles. I checked the straps at every stop and only had to tighten them once, and not very much at that. Excellent system when using the factory roof rack. Etrailer.com was great at answering my questions and ensuring that I got what I needed.

by:

Great! Good quality worked great

by:

Managers at Scheels Store were impressed with the product and how easily it adapted on the vehicle (99 GMC Yukon) and how the canoe easily mated and secured onto the carrier. It was a lot better product for carrying canoes than was offered by Cabellas or Scheels. It secured our new canoe perfectly for our drive home 65 miles away. No shifting or loosening of the tie-downs. Top Notch.

by:

In 2015 I purchased roof racks and a t hitch for my new Tahoe. The purpose was to allow me to load and haul a canoe. I love the products. Ordering and delivery could not have been easier.

by:

Very happy with the product. I had a hard time finding clips for my factory luggage rack that would hold my wood strip securely in place on the roof of my CRV. These clips are perfect and the price was outstanding since the kit included all of the straps as well. I've never used etrailer before but I've since bookmarked them for future use.

by:

ETrailer.com is awesome. I'm not real happy with the road Yakima is going down but I've been using their racks for over 30 years. ETrailer's service and prices are great!

by:

Just received product, but I'm enthusiastic about putting it to use to standardize my kayak transport.

Good service from etrailer.

by:

While this wasn't the product we originally ordered, this is the replacement. It works as well and secures just as easy as the older model.

by:

Easy to install and very secure.

by:

by:

  • Can a 2008 Honda Odyssey Carry a Kayak and a Canoe at the Same Time
The ability to carry a canoe and a kayak on the roof of a 2008 Honda Odyssey is going to depend on two factors. It will depend on the weight capacity of the roof and the sizes of the canoe and kayak. For your raised side rails, I recommend adding Thule WingBar # TH711420 and Evo Clamp Feet # TH710401. Then add locks # TH450400. This rack is rated for 150 lb capacity. If you find that your roof can support the weight of your kayak and canoe, there are a few options that may allow you...

  • Canoe Carriers for Use on Malone MicroSportXT Trailer
The Malone MicroSportXT trailer # MPG460XT does come with 78-inch square crossbars and these are the widest part of the entire trailer. Longer crossbars could pose a hazard so I do not recommend changing. Since the Old Town Saranac 146 has a base weight of 79-lbs and a width of 36-inches your existing bars should work fine to let you use two of the Malone MegaWing Carrier # MPG207. Each MegaWing carrier can handle boats up to 150-lbs. If you prefer a carrier that will allow you to transport...

  • Recommended Bike, Cargo, and Canoe Carriers for a 2017 Chevy Equinox with Factory Roof Rack
For your 2017 Chevy Equinox I recommend using the Thule UpRide # TH599000 for your bikes because of how easy it is to use and you don't have to remove your front wheel to transport your bike. To carry your canoe I highly recommend the Lockrack Adjustable Watersport Carrier # Lockrack # LR54FR for a few reasons. The first is that it can accommodate pretty much any boat style out there and the second reason is that this carrier has integrated locks that help grip your canoe and eliminate...

  • Will the Yakima KeelOver Canoe Carrier Fit the Factory Roof Rack on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe
Yes, I checked with Yakima and the KeelOver canoe carrier # Y04069 does fit the factory roof rack on your 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe. Yakima lists the roof rack capacity of the factory rack on your Santa Fe at 165 pounds. However you will want to double check with the owners manual and/or Hyundai prior to loading.

  • Roof Mount Canoe Carrier for a 2005 Honda Pilot with Factory Roof Rack
We do not carry Inno items but there are some canoe carriers that do fit the factory Honda bars on your 2005 Pilot. First up we have the Foam Block carrier, # RL100K10. This simple design is both functional and cost effective. Foam blocks fit on the cross bars and have slots on top for the canoe to rest in. There are also tie down straps to secure everything to the vehicle. For mounts that attach more permanently than the foam blocks you can use the KeelOver, # Y04069, that you have referenced....

  • Canoe Carrier Options for a 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
If your 2015 Subaru Outback has the factory roof rack with crossbars that run side to side then you can use the Yakima KeelOver, # Y04069, as a direct fit. If your Outback does not have factory crossbars then you can use a carrier designed for naked roofs such as # MPG156.

  • Inno Roof Rack and Canoe Carrier for 2013 Kia Sportage with Bare Roof
Roof racks for your 2013 Kia Sportage that has a bare roof are displayed on the linked page and these include racks from Inno and others. For the Inno 54-inch square bar rack you referenced you will need to order parts # INB137, # INSUT and # INK701. On your vehicle this rack will install with a 28-inch bar spread; the rack weight capacity is 120-lbs. It is a good idea to check your Kia owner's manual to make sure your roof can handle the weight of the canoe. Of course, the canoe cannot...

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for Camper Shell on Top of 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500
For a roof rack to install on the top of your camper shell on your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 we have the Yakima Roof Rack # Y57CV which is designed for just what you need. Then for a canoe carrier part # Y04069 would be a great option that allows you to carry the canoe upside down.

  • How to Carry a Kayak and a Canoe on a 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon
I do have an option for you but we don't really have any feasible solutions for you to carry both a kayak and canoe on the roof of your 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon at the same time. Instead, I recommend placing both the kayak and canoe on a pull behind trailer like the Malone EcoLight Trailer part # MAL. In order to pull a trailer with your vehicle you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. For this I recommend using the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch part # 75673,...

  • 2010 Outback Roof Rack Options
Adding feet to your 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon will not change the weight limit of the rack. The maximum weight limit will still be 165lbs. Adding the Rhino-Rack RT-Style Roof Rack Tracks - Rivet Mount - 51" Long - Qty 2, part # RRRTS551, does not change that. In fact, adding an extra feet/legs and crossbars to your roof rack will actually lower the weight you can carry on your roof. That is because your roof rack's weight actually counts toward the 165lb weight total. I would use my existing...

  • What Trailer Can Hold 14-1/2 Foot Canoe
Not a silly question at all, though I verified with Malone that the maximum length of boat is 14 feet for the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL53FR, so you'd need a different option for your 14-1/2 foot canoe. There are two different trailers that will work for your canoe length: - Malone MicroSport Trailer # MPG460G - Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106 The MicroSport is able to carry a boat up to 20 feet, while the Rack and Roll can carry up to a 16 foot boat. • Roof Mounted Cargo Basket Recommendation for a 2004 Honda Element with Factory Cross Bars
Adding a roof rack mounted basket like # Y07070, with MightyMounts, # Y03590, will still have your load off center because the basket will be centered above the cross bars, though there is some room for adjustment. I would check to see if the factory cross bars on your 2004 Honda Element are adjustable. They may be able to be moved rearward. This may be the case, as the pictures I have seen of the 2004 (with a roof rack) show the rack more towards the middle (the front rail just forward...

  • Recommended Canoe Carrier for Factory Roof Rack of a 2011 Subaru Outback
For a gunwhale style bracket I recommend the Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs - Universal Mount # Y04069. This does require that the canoe is slightly within the factory crossbar width. For a saddle style that does not require that, I recommend the Swagman Exo Aero Rooftop Kayak Carrier System with Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Universal Mount # S65145. This is designed to be compatible with canoes and factory roof racks like the one on your 2011 Subaru Outback.
