Expert Reply:
A programmer is not necessary to use a cold air intake system. Once an intake system is installed, you will not need to add any other components unless you want to improve your engine performance beyond the capabilities of the intake system. This intake system is designed for 6.4 liter diesel trucks only. I have attached the installation instructions for you to view.
If you wanted to add a monitor to view your engine performance or a programmer to tune your engine for even greater engine performance, then you could look at the Edge Insight CTS2 Display, # EP84130, or the Edge Evolution CS2 Programmer, # EP85300.
The Insight is only a monitor that will allow you to view your engine performance. The Evolution contains different settings to allow you boost your engine performance based on the setting you are using and monitor your engine performance.
