To choose the properly rated weight distribution system for a given trailer, knowing the trailer's as-towed tongue weight is important, as that's how the systems are classified.
To choose a system, use the provided link, and click the filter on the left side of the page that's closest to the fully loaded weight of your boat trailer. Then, choose the filter for surge brake compatible and you'll be shown the available systems in the correct weight capacity that will work with surge brakes.
Most boat trailers use a pole tongue, so you'd need to use a pole tongue adapter to provide a connection point to the trailer for the spring bars. You'll also need to ensure that the pole tongue adapter you choose is compatible with the system you're using.
I'd recommend the Fastway E2 systems. They're reliable, easy to use and provide excellent weight distribution in addition to their proven sway control component. If your trailer's fully loaded tongue weight is between 400-800 lbs, use # FA92-00-0800. If it's between 600-1000 lbs, use the higher rated # FA92-00-1000. You'll also need the # EQ95-01-5950 pole tongue adapter. For a trailer ball, I'd recommend # 19286 for a 2-5/16 ball or # A-90 for a 2 inch.
