Recommended Wiring Options for a 2020 Ford Transit T250

I have a 2020 Ford Transit T250 and I need to add some wiring to it for trailer towing but I'm not sure what I need. Initially I'll only be towing a smaller trailer but I think I'll eventually be pulling a trailer with brakes so I need that and a brake controller. Anything else you can think of would be helpful. I already have a trailer hitch so that end is covered.

I can definitely help you out with wiring for your 2020 Ford Transit T250.

If you want a quick and easy solution for a standard 4-Way plug then I recommend installing the Curt T-Connector Wiring Kit # C56327 with mounting brackets # 18144 and # 18136 to easily mount it to your trailer hitch. This kit plugs in behind your tail lights and then pulls power directly from your battery via the black wire. This means that your OEM wiring isn't affected by this kit.

If you will be towing a trailer with brakes in the near future you can add the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7, which will have everything needed to install a 7-way plug and add a brake controller.

Then for a brake controller I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 for a few reasons. First of all it is a phenomenal brake controller that is easy to use due to the LCD screen and storable settings for various trailers. Secondly is that the Tekonsha wiring kit comes with provisions to plug this controller right in so you don't have to mess with any adapters.

Attached are some sample installation and review videos that you can check out. The only other immediate thing that you'll need is a ball mount kit to complete your towing setup.
