Is There an Advantage To Using a Weight Distribution Hitch Over Stand Alone Sway Control
Question:
Whats confusing is the sentence in the product description, ”Sway control system helps correct sway in trailers that do not need a weight distribution hitch.” Wouldnt it also be useful with a WDH?

I can see how this might be a confusing choice of words. I've seen instances where people have used both a weight distribution hitch with sway control AND the Curt True Course in order to create a "super" sway control system to keep their trailer in line behind their tow vehicle. With that being said, which one you choose typically comes down to whether or not you really need a weight distribution system or can get away with simply having sway control.
Weight distribution hitches are needed for a variety of factors including reduction of rear end sag on your tow vehicle or combating difficulty in steering/stopping while towing and is often recommended any time your trailer weighs more than 50% of your GVWR. While most weight distribution hitches have some sort of sway control built in to them like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET, which uses friction to control sway, not all of them do.
The Curt Electronic Sway Control # C94VV is designed for those applications that aren't heavy enough to require a weight distribution hitch, but still might be susceptible to wind from passing semis or are carrying lighter loads. The Curt True Course is especially popular on light weight, enclosed cargo trailers or similar applications because they typically aren't heavy enough for a weight distribution hitch, but still need something to help keep the trailer under control in certain situations. This works by engaging the electric brakes on your trailer to keep it in line and under control using GPS and a gyroscope to sense sway and speed and correct any abnormal movements.
I've linked a helpful article that explains more about weight distribution hitches and when they should be used, as well as how to choose one if you want to go that route.
