Comparing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness and Curt Powered Tail Light Converter for a Kia Sorento
Question:
Ive been using your guides and videos to help us prep our vehicle to tow a lightweight TT RV. However, Ive seen a few recommended parts lists and was wondering which of the following I should use. Note, my car did NOT come with the towing package, so I believe it is missing the 4-pole connector. It is the V6 AWD version capable of towing 5000lbs. First, what is the difference between items #118583 and #C59236? Do they perform the same function? It seems like they do, but the Curt is both more expensive and requires wire splicing, while the Tekonsha is cheaper and doesnt. If they do the same thing, it feels like the Tekonsha is the way to go. Second, is there a reason to buy Item # ETBC7 vs Item # 37185 and Item # 18140 together? Thanks for your help!

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118583 is a plug and play kit whereas the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter part # C59236 would require you to splice into wires on the vehicle which I do not recommend. They would function the same but installation is very different. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness is absolutely what I recommend you use on your 2019 Kia Sorento.
In regards to the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Adapter part # ETBC7 and Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185, there are a lot of parts that you will need if installing a brake controller that come with the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Adapter and are not included with the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole such as primary wire, circuit breakers, etc.
I actually recommend the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L and the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 instead as this option does not require you to run any wires into the cab and it cuts down on install time dramatically. The total list of parts you will need are as follows:
T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118583
7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L
Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180
