Can 2019 Ram 3500 with Ramboxes Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer
Question:
We are buying a 2019 Ram 3500 short bed 6.4 with RamBox also are buying a 2019 Heartland Big Country 3560SS. We are definitely NEWBIES! What do we need - some have said a slider hitch, and others a sidewinder pin box. We are totally in need of advise!

The Ramboxes of your 2019 Ram 3500 do make towing a fifth wheel trailer more difficult since they narrow the distance between the bed rails but with a Sidewinder pin box installed you can easily tow a fifth wheel trailer. The reason for this is because the Sidewinder moves the pivot point up higher which allows the trailer to pivot above the narrow bed rails. A standard pin box would hit the bed rails around corners since the pivot is lower.
Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.
There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.
The part # RP61422 is a cushioned Sidewinder that fits the most popular pin box the Lippert 1621. With it you need to run a fixed fifth wheel hitch like the Reese # RP30047 which works great with Sidewinders and is overall a really great hitch.
