Two Front M12 Bolts Will Not Tighten with etrailer Hitch e98865 On a 2007 Pontiac Torrent
Question:
I had two problems with this install. The two weld nuts under the license plate never torqued down. They were the only ones that I could tighten easily, but they never tightened up to the proper torque level. Second problem, the rear bolts that have to be threaded through the steel plate through the frame hole would not tighten because the steel plate spins freely in the frame. Any recommended solutions?

In regards to the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98865 on your 2007 Pontiac Torrent, the first issue you are having with the weld nuts inside the bumper beam is most likely due to them being stripped. This would have most likely been caused by the threads not being cleaned properly before the bolt was threaded in. Unfortunately, the fix for this will be to either drill and tap these nuts with the next size up drill bit/tap or to remove the weld nut and then use a carriage bolt and square washer.
The second issue you are having with the spacer spinning is most likely caused by using the smaller square spacer instead of the larger rectangular spacer as this would then catch on the frame rail preventing it from spinning while you are tying to tighten this.
