Can Bike Rack be Modified to use With Factory Hitch on 2018 Buick Enclave

Question:

I have a 2018 Buick with the factory installed hitch. Its a 2 inch hitch, so I believe its a class 3 though its not stated on the Hitch. Part # 84306280, looks to have a tongue weight of 600 lbs based on the sticker. I picked up the Thule T2 Pro XTB 4 bike based on the fact that I had a 2 inch hitch, then found out that the 1.125 pin-hole distance on my OEM hitch isnt sufficient for the 4-bike add-on. Its a measurement not mentioned on any of the websites I shopped around. Do I have any options to modify the pin-hole distance so I can still use the 4 bike add-on?

I'm sorry to hear that the awesome Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Rack # TH83JV with 2-bike add on # TH9036XT you got isn't working in the factory hitch of your 2018 Buick Enclave. Unfortunately the problem with a lot of these factory hitches is that they don't have the needed clearance from hitch face to pin hole to use bike racks.

Modifying the hitch or bike rack in any way is potentially dangerous and I can't recommend or suggest you do it. It could result in your bike rack, particularly one that large and heavy, falling off and being left on the road behind you. It would also void the warranty of your expensive bike rack, though that's on the less important side of things.

Your only option would be to remove the factory hitch and add the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # CU29FR to your '18 Enclave which will allow you to use the Thule T2 Pro you have.
