Troubleshooting Squeaking and Out of Stroke Errors on Lippert Ground Control

Question:

The system is beginning to do two worrisome things. First the jacks on the four corners of the fifth wheel are beginning to make noises like they need to be lubricated. Is there a feasible way to lubricate them? Secondly just recently the rear jacks stop at a point. The touch pad announces that it’s out of stroke. It has only extended four inches. And there is screeching noise indicating it needs lubricant that gets louder and louder at that point. What can I do?

The noises you described in your question along with the "Out of Stroke" error message you're getting might be indicating some internal damage with the gears on the jack leg(s). The "Out of Stroke" error basically means that the jack has extended as far as it can go, so if you're getting the message after only 4 inches of extension then there's something preventing it from going further such as a bent pin or stripped gear, which would require that the leg get replaced.

The only lubrication-type maintenance Lippert suggests for this system is using a standard spray lubricant on exposed areas of the jack tube about every 3 months for protection. You can try doing this to see if it helps at all.

If you find that replacement legs are in order you can use part # LC305340 for the Front Legs, part # LC344792 for the Right Rear Leg, or part # LC305339 for the Left Rear Leg.
