Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
Question:
How tight should the trailer mount be for a tent trailer? I got a 2 inch Square with a ball on it. When I put the square into my trucks hitch its about 1/8 inch to small and seems a tiny bit loose. Is that OK or should it be snug?

What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use. Technically the tolerance you have is fine but if you want to get rid of it we do have some options
If your ball mount has a hollow shank like the Curt # D-4 then you can use one that add anti-rattle internally like the part # 63232. Otherwise with a solid shank like the Curt # C45340 you need a different style like the Quiet Hitch # RM-061 or Gen-Y # GY88XR.
Attached is a link to our selection of anti-rattle devices that you can also filter through.
