Recommended Surge Brake Actuator For Drum Brakes on Tandem Axle 6K Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a dual axle boat trailer rated at 6000 lbs. GVW. It has surge drum brakes. I would like to change to a bypass valve system, I can replace the entire hitch system, so if I were on a hill and needed to back up the bypass would relieve the pressure already present. Could you please recommend a hitch system / part number.

It sounds like you are looking for a new surge brake actuator for drum brakes. If that is the case then I recommend the Brake Actuator part # T43397007K which is one of our best sellers. It has a zinc plated finish for maximum corrosion resistance, comes with a one year warranty, and is made here in the USA.

In order to add a lockout you can use the Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators part # T4748800 along with the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter part # 20036.

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.
