Weight of Draw-Tite and EcoHitch Trailer Hitch for 2019 Subaru Outback

Question:

Could you tell me the weight difference between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76227 and the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7601? Less is more in my book, as weight effects fuel efficiency. Thanks,

The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7601 weighs 31 lbs and according to the manufacturer the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 76227 weighs 35 lbs.

Both of these hitches are a fit for a 2019 Subaru Outback, will give you a concealed crosstube, are no-drill installations, and have a 2 inch receiver for compatibility with many different accessories. Apart from the slight weight difference, the only other difference between the two hitches is that the Draw-Tite has a 600 lb tongue weight capacity and 4,000 lb towing capacity while the EcoHitch has a 525 lb tongue weight capacity and 3,500 lb towing capacity.

I have added links to videos of both hitches being installed on a 2019 Subaru Outback for you to check out.

For wiring which will give your '19 Outback a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # 118467. It is also strongly recommended you use Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755 to help prevent any type of corrosion in your connector, which will increase its durability and extend its lifespan. I have added a link to a video of this harness being installed on a 2019 Outback for you.

I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop – along with a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.

You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise.
