Troubleshooting Tension Bar Coming Loose on Titan Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC2029
Question:
Hello, I have an Acura 2015 MDX with 245/60R18 tires. After installation and adjustment and while driving the tension bar opens up. Am I over-tightening or what else could cause this? Thanks!

I spoke with my contact at Titan Chain regarding the problem you are having with the tension bar on the Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC2029. He said that if the tension bar is opening up while you drive then the chains actually aren't tight enough. Tension is what keeps that bar locked into place, so the only way it would open up is if there is too much slack/movement.
When installing the chains make sure they are tight both on the inside and outside of the tire. You will want to be using the same number of metal stops through the hook on each side.
If they seem to be as tight as they will go, you may benefit from adding some tensioners like the Titan Chain # TCMA2 to provide a more snug fit around the tire.
