Capacity of Trailer Hitch for 2017 Fiat 500L
Question:
Would this be strong enough for a trailer for my mobility scooter. Is it an expensive to install?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11364 has a 2,000 lb towing capacity and a 200 lb tongue weight capacity although your 2017 Fiat 500L may have a lower rated capacity so you will need to check your owner's manual to determine what the capacity of your vehicle is and go by the lowest-rated component.
If your trailer and mobility scooter fall under the weights of the hitch or vehicle it will be safe to tow. As for installation expense, that can vary widely but a certified mechanic should be able to do it in roughly an hour or so, which should help give you an idea of the cost. I have also added a link to a video of the install on a similar year Fiat 500L for you to check out to so you can see how it installs.
The correct ball mount for this hitch is the Curt # C45016; you will also need Pin and Clip # F-4 and either 2" Hitch Ball # A-82 or 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # A-80 depending on the size of your trailer's coupler. Additionally, for wiring which will give you a 4-way connector and allow you to power your trailer's lights you need Wiring Harness # C59236.
It is also recommended you use Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors # 11755 to help prevent any type of corrosion in your connector, which will increase its durability and extend its lifespan.
