How to Attach a Toad with a 4-Way to a Motorhome with a 7-Way

Question:

I have a 2014 Honda CR-V that is towed behind a 2006 diesel MH. I have a 7 pin round connector on the MH that will be attached to a 6 pin round connector on the CR-V for towing. I have the connecting cable from the MH to the CR-V 7 pin to 6 pin. I am using the Blue Ox BX88314 EZ wiring kit on the CR-V to connect the lights to the coach. The BX88314 kit is equipped with a 4 way flat connector. Your site has an adapter for converting the 4 way flat to a 6 way round connector, A10-6034vp. I also want to use the 12+ volt lead from the MH to connect to the CR-V battery, which can be done with the black lead in either of the above mentioned adapter. I will need this in order not to drain the CR-V battery when using the Demco/SMI Air Force One supplemental braking system on the CR-V. My questions are: 1. Is the 6 to 4 way adapter dood? I prefer a quality weatherproof connector with a 12inch to 36inch length connector wire. 2. Will I need to a fuse/circuit breaker between the 12+ volt lead from the MH to the CR-V battery? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The Blue Ox EZ Light Wiring Harness part BX88314 has a male 4-way trailer connector. The Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter part # A10-6034VP also has a male 4-way trailer connectors so they will not plug directly into each other. The best option for you is to use the RoadMaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit part # RM-146-7 or the RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector part # RM-910030-7 if you already have the adapter. You will need to cut off the 4-way on the Blue Ox harness and wire on the above 6-way trailer connector but there will be no other option if you want to use a charge line kit.

There will in fact need to be a circuit breaker on the wire that runs from the motorhome's battery to the toad's battery. We actually have a kit that includes all of this which is the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit part # RM-156-25. The charge line can be installed on the 12 volt pin for each trailer connector.
