Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2010 Audi A4 Sedan
Question:
what is the type of stabilizing strap that you recommend? For the Audi A4 2010 sedan what is the best hitch that you recommend and what platform style, 2 or 3 bicycle rack would you recommend. Thanx

The CURT Class I, II, and some Class III trailer hitches require the use of a stabilizer strap, # 18050, in order to be in compliance with CURTs warranty requirements. The strap is meant to relieve some of the stress from the hitch when used for any non-trailer load such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. Other manufacturers do not require a strap.
For your 2010 Audi A4, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # DT24950. This is the most popular hitch for your vehicle. I have included a link to the installation details for you.
All of the hitches for your vehicle are Class I hitches. This means that you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes. The reason is that a Class I trailer hitch is not designed for the stresses of more than 2 bikes because it puts too much weight too far away from the receiver.
For a platform bike rack compatible with a Class I trailer hitch, I recommend the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670. This rack has ratcheting frame hooks that are padded to protect finish on the bikes. It will accommodate a wide range of bike types and sizes, and it is the most popular platform rack we carry. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review for you.
