Sizes of Hitches and Hitch Bikes Racks for 2018 Honda CR-V
Question:
I have a 2018 Honda CR-V Tour with hands free lift gate. Which hitch receiver model would I need purchase to accommodate a Thule bike rack?

Expert Reply:
Hitch bike racks including those from Thule and Yakima are made to fit either a 1-1/4-inch hitch, a 2-inch hitch or based or their design sometimes both sizes. To illustrate, Thule hitch racks for both hitch sizes are shown on the linked page. The T2 Pro XTR # TH23JV fits any 1-1/4-inch hitch; the EasyFold # TH903202 fits both 1-1/4 and 2-inch hitches; and the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 fits only 2-inch hitches. You may be able to review the racks shown to spot your Thule rack to help you select the matching size hitch.
The same size choice is true for the hitches made to fit your 2018 Honda CR-V; we have both 1-1/4-inch Class II hitches like # 36597 and 2-inch Class III hitches, such as # 76128. We always recommend using the heavier-duty 2-inch option when it is available to give you the biggest safety margin.
If you happen to have a 1-1/4-inch-only rack you can still install a 2-inch hitch and use the smaller rack in it simply by adding a reducer sleeve # HT02.
