Connector Location for the Curt T-Connector # C56278 on a 2014 Ford Explorer
Question:
I have a 2014 Explorer that I purchased used. It has a towing package but no wiring. I located a female plug under the right rear of the vehicle but the male plug shown above doesn’t fit. If you look closely at the picture of the male plug you see a white flange in the middle of the plug. The female plug on my vehicle does not have a slot for the flange. Any suggestions?

You are correct that the plug in your picture is not the right one. The one that you want to use will have a connection looking like the female side of the Curt T-Connector # C56278 that you referenced.
We installed a similar harness, the Tekonsha T-One # 118540, on a 2014 Ford Explorer and found that there are 2 connectors on the passenger side at the rear but you only use one. If you check out the linked installation video you can see the location that I am talking about.
