In order to determine the maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) that you can haul with your 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, you will need to find both the gross combined weight rating (GCWR) and the gross vehicle weight (GVW). If you subtract the GVW from the GCWR that will give you the maximum GTW you can safely tow. These figures can be found on the white tag inside your driver's door jamb.
According to the owners manual for your 2016 Chevrolet Traverse. If you have the All Wheel Drive (AWD) and the V92 Trailer Towing Package then the maximum GTW of your vehicle is 5,200 lbs. In order to choose the correct ball mount you will need to measure from the ground to the top of the inside edge on the vehicle's receiver tube opening and then compare that to the distance from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. The distance between these two measurements will give you the correct amount of rise/drop you will need to look for in a ball mount.
As long as the rise you need is no greater than 5-1/4" and the drop you need is no greater than 6", I recommend the Curt Adjustable Ball Mount part # C45900 which fits a 2" receiver tube opening and a comes with both a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball. If you would like a different ball mount then I have attached a selection of our 2" versions for you. I have also attached a help article that walks you through selecting the correct ball mount.
